Announcements for Ceremonies, Public Transport and Devices

Announcements for ceremonies, public transport and devices - What are they?

Annoucements are voiceovers declaring something. Here are some examples:

  • Announcements of awards ceremony winners' names and instructions to the audience. For example, "And the winner of the award is..." and "Ladies and gentlemen, please be seated".
  • Public transportation announcements stating bus/train stops and instructions to the passengers. For example, "Next stop..." and "Please remain seated throughout the ride".
  • Voiceovers announcing the floors of a building, when riding in an elevator. For example, "Floor 4: CTs, MRIs and Ultrasounds".
  • Safety instructions and inflight announcements on a plane.
  • Voiceovers for a variety of electronic devices.

Requirements

The main requirement for announcements is a pleasant and usually calming voice. You can listen to the demos below to get an idea of the standard voiceover style for such recordings (an "announcer voice"), or visit the telephone demos page for additional, relevant options.

How can you assist with the recording process?

Be sure to describe the voiceover style you are looking for. While announcements are usually official-sounding, they sometimes may be soft or even humorous.

In addition, the script is usually provided as an Excel sheet with file names in a dedicated column, or as a table in a Word document.

Some announcement systems require a special file format, so be sure to mention the required format.
