Medical voiceover, like voiceover scientific videos, usually includes a lot of technical jargon that is long and hard to pronounce (some times very much so!). Therefore it requires the voice actor to research the pronunciation of the words in the script. This will enable the talent to deliver them correctly. In addition, the voice talent must understand the script, even if it is complicated, so that they can read it naturally, smoothly and convincingly. No need for a medical degree, but good reading comprehension is a must.
The vocal style needs to be authoritative, but also calming - especially if the video discusses diseases or medical procedures that may cause the patient anxiety. The video's audience needs to feel that they can trust the doctor / treatment / product / procedure described in the video.
This type of voiceover may include tutorials and e-learning.
